BUTLER COMMUNITY COLLEGE NAMES 2012 ENTREPRENEURSHIP HALL OF FAME CLASS

Butler Community College    has selected three people and one organization as the 2012 inductees to its Mid-America Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.

Ted and Barb Dankert, Justin McClure and the K.T. Wiedemann Foundation will be honored during an induction ceremony in October. This news release details more about the Butler hall of fame and the inductees:

The Hall of Fame recognizes the perseverance, insight and achievements of visionaries who have demonstrated their commitment of time, effort and resources to create a positive impact on the economic and social well-being of the region.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” said Butler President Jackie Vietti to the inductees. “You make Butler what it is.”

Selected as this year’s Business Entrepreneur of the Year are Ted & Barb Dankert. In addition to a 28-year career in the U.S. Army, Ted Dankert struck out in 1973 and braved the creation of El Dorado-based Dustrol, where he and Barb began selling emulsions for sealing asphalt and controlling dust.

In the nearly 40-year company history, Dustrol has grown to approximately 400 employees and focuses primarily on the recycling of asphalt roads.  The Dankerts have made an indelible mark in the community, bringing their humble service and leadership to numerous organizations.

Having earned the title of 2012 Rising Entrepreneur, Justin McClure spent time honing his skills as an agency art director in Chicago, before the El Dorado native decided to come back home with his family and etch his dreams into reality by starting Wichita’s JustinMcClure.tv motion graphics studio and partnering with his brother to form the Delano District Rivalry office. The Butler Community College and Fort Hays State University alum also recently expanded his business to include Duct Tape & Glitter, a new graphic design and illustration studio.

Named this year’s Social Entrepreneur, K. T. Wiedemann and his wife Gladys lived in Minneapolis, Minn., for over 40 years. In the 1920s, Mr. Wiedemann established a gasoline and fuel distribution business with service stations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri.

In 1950, they moved to Wichita, and for nearly 60 years, the Wiedemann Foundation has recognized the importance of one’s giving back to one’s community, including organizations like Boys and Girls Clubs, Butler Community College, Envision, Exploration Place, Kansas Food Bank Warehouse, Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, Symphony in the Flint Hills, United Way and the Wichita Art Museum, among many more.

The Mid-America Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame will induct their 2012 honorees during an Induction Ceremony on Oct. 18. Proceeds from the dinner will support entrepreneurship programs and services at Butler Community College, including student scholarships and assistance.

The Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is designed to publicly acknowledge and honor each class of inductees for their entrepreneurial spirit. Previous inductees to the Hall of Fame include True Knowles, Fran Jabara, R.D. Hubbard, Ted and Betty Vlamis, Helen Galloway, Clifford Stone, George Laham, Galen Myers, Wink and Libba Hartman, Bill and Janice Hanna, Jon Rolph. Last year’s inductees were Charlie Chandler, Jason Opat and Martha Walker.

The animation revisits the accomplishments made in 2011, the inaugural year. Can you believe almost 600,000 meals were packaged in just one month in Kansas alone? Syfy

If you haven’t noticed we also love working with Syfy. We were asked to design and animate two more promos for their Original Movie series. This time we were stranded on a Mysterious Island and drank some green beers with a Leprechaun out for revenge.

On February 11, Jules Vernes’ Mysterious Island premiered on Syfy and was the second Original Movie since Sharktopus to receive over 2 million viewers.

Leprechaun’s Revenge premiered on Syfy on St. Patrick’s Day as part of their Leprechaun marathon. In this Syfy Original Movie an evil leprechaun is mistakenly unleashed and takes out his revenge on the descendants of those who stole his gold.

Quizno’s

Ahoy matey! We recently worked with Barkley on graphics and title treatment for a Quizno’scommercial featuring the new lobster and seafood sub and salad. MMMMMTasty. Eye patches and peg legs optional.

Swanderosa

We teamed up with CMT to design a show package for their new show, Swanderosa, which aired earlier this year. The reality show follows the Swan family’s ventures with their wedding and event planning business. Check out more of the initial styleframes and logos we designed here.

Duct Tape & Glitter

To better serve our clients, Duct Tape & Glitter is now open. With the addition of the design and illustration studio, we’re able to meet the needs of our clients who are looking to develop or extend their branding and identity packages.

It’s been just about a month since the doors opened at Duct Tape & Glitter. We thought it would be a good time to celebrate. Join us next Friday, March 30th at 4:30 as we give the studio a proper welcome. We’ll have plenty of cool refreshments and the nice folks from The Flying Stove will be parked out front serving up some tasty food around 5:30 to those who are hungry.
